LJUBLJANA, Nov. 9 (Xinhua)-- A large fire broke out early Sunday at an industrial complex near the town of Radomlje, north of the Slovenian capital Ljubljana, causing immense material damage, the municipality of Domzale announced on its website.
The blaze engulfed more than 2,000 square meters of storage and production facilities at the site of the former wood-processing company LIP Radomlje, local authorities said in a statement.
More than 150 professional and volunteer firefighters with over 30 fire engines were mobilized to contain the blaze, which was brought under control later in the morning. The local civil protection service was also activated.
Although the fire has been extinguished, firefighters remain at the scene to prevent re-ignition, officials said, adding that there is no longer any immediate risk to nearby residents from smoke.
Local media reported that part of the complex used for parking second-hand cars was also affected.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. ■
