WINDHOEK, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- Namibia hosted the inaugural FIFA Football for Schools (F4S) Festival in Windhoek over the weekend, a grassroots event organized by the Namibia Football Association (NFA).
The NFA said the two-day festival drew more than 200 participants, including children, volunteers and coaches.
The F4S aims to make football more accessible to children worldwide and uses the sport to support education, development and social inclusion.
According to the NFA, 16 teams from eight Windhoek primary schools each played at least four matches, with group leaders earning a bonus match at the end of the festival.
MH Greef Primary School won both the girls' and boys' trophies.
The NFA added that teachers and coaches can continue to run football activities in physical education classes or after school with support from the FIFA Football for Schools mobile application.
The application includes training sessions for young players paired with life-skill lessons designed to be reinforced on and off the pitch, the NFA said. ■
